For nearly 100 years, the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging has been lifting spirits, restoring health, and making the richness of life an everyday event for our community’s precious elderly. Each year, nearly 1,000 frail seniors are fortunate enough to have a wonderful new place to call “Home.”
Caring for our elderly Jewish mothers and fathers is a most rewarding way to “give back” to the vulnerable seniors who have bequeathed such a rich life and meaningful traditions to us all.
Statistics show that residents at the Jewish Home live three times longer than residents at typical senior care facilities. One reason for this is that the medical care at the Home is immediate, expert, and on-site. From highly skilled nursing care and on-site medical clinics with fifteen medical specialties to a trained and inspired professional staff, the Home provides Jewish seniors with extraordinary care.
Over 600,000 Jews live in Los Angeles. But there is only one home for the elderly that offers kosher food, a warm Jewish environment and Jewish holiday celebrations. The Jewish Home appreciates the commitment the community has shown to its mission of nurturing and enhancing the lives of the residents.
The Guardians provides continuous major private philanthropic support for the Los Angeles Jewish home for the Aging. With more than 1,700 members and donors, The Guardians is the largest support group of its kind in the United States.
For the last 70 years, The Guardians has gathered community leaders from all industries to help build a strong and lasting outreach organization for the Jewish Home. The Guardians – a stand-alone nonprofit organization – solely raises awareness and much needed funds to afford nearly 1,000 elderly to live out their remaining years with dignity at the Jewish Home. Guardians members have developed lifelong friendships and built successful businesses, while continually addressing the needs of our parents and grandparents
