For seven decades, The Guardians has fulfilled its mission of providing vital funding to the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging and developing individuals who serve as emissaries of the Home as volunteer leaders, contributors and fundraisers.
The Guardians were formed in 1938 as a small group of men who came together to bring awareness of the Jewish Home for the Aging. From that small beginning The Guardians has grown into an organization of over 1,700 men and women with the same objective of supporting the Home and its residents.

As important as today�s fundraising efforts are to the Home, an organization must always look to the future needs of itself and the community it supports.

Our community defines itself by the sum of its institutions. Included in that equation are synagogues, the institutions of Jewish education, our Jewish Federation, national organizations, Jewish Family Service and the LA Jewish Home for the Aging, to name a few. It would not be possible to call ourselves a community without these varied and vital institutions.

Leadership is the foundation of all volunteer organizations. The Guardians are most proud of the individuals who have assumed leadership positions of The Guardians and in many cases the top volunteer leadership of the Jewish Home. In addition The Guardians are very well represented by the top contributors to the Home for programs, facilities and operational support.

With an annual operating budget nearing $60 million, the Home is one of the largest and most important institutions we have. As has been often said, �Without a Jewish Home for the Aging, there cannot be a Jewish community�. The Jewish Home operates at a Margin of Excellence; it provides each and every resident with exceptional care and state-of-the-art medical treatment.
