Message from our YMD Co-Chairmen Jake Kaufman & Larry M. Schnaid

2009 is going to be an exciting year for The Young Men’s Division of The Guardians!  Last year finished off with “The Ball” on December 24, where more than 700 young professionals celebrated and raised more than $7000 for the Jewish Home.  Throughout the year, our Mixers have grown in size and are now known throughout the Los Angeles young Jewish social community as some of the best events of the year.

We’ve established a new multi-leveled Executive Board, co-chaired by Jake Kaufman and Larry Schnaid.  As our numbers have grown over the past few years, we chose to reorganize our board to allow for greater leadership opportunities from our board of our directors.  We added new roles on the Executive Board and established committees for Events, Membership, Fundraising and Communications.

In addition to our Executive Board, we have a strong and dynamic Board of Directors.  32 young professionals got together for our first Board meeting 2009.  During this meeting, we formalized our calendar for the first half of 2009 and auctioned off Member Numbers for on first-ever Membership Cards, which raised more than $1,000!

This year’s events will include the Swing Fore the Home Golf Tournament, the March Madness Poker Night, our Annual Summer Party, regular Mixers as well as our Member Only events!

We have set our primary goal to increasing our Membership by more than 50% in 2009.  We are hosting our first Membership event this February, an invite-only Scotch and Cigar night at a Member’s home in Beverly Hills. Each 2009 Young Division Member will receive a membership card and entrance to up to 5 mixers a year, for free!

The Young Men’s Division is about building friendships, enjoying unique experiences and raising money and awareness for an excellent charity, the LA Jewish Home for the Aging!
